Devious Dungeon Review

May 14, 2018 by Phil Myth in Reviews

Devious Dungeon doesn't do a whole lot, but what it does do, it does very well. The procedurally generated stages, and impressive array of monsters to slay, make each dive into the catacombs an entertaining trip. That said, once you reach the bottom, there's very little to bring you back for a glory run.

Midnight Deluxe Review

March 21, 2018 by Phil Myth in Reviews

Midnight Deluxe doesn't do a whole lot, but what it does do, it does well. There's a wide variety of challenges to overcome, and the genre-standard, 3 star scoring system offers some incentive to play through the stages again. Without a way of tracking your previous efforts, it can be a little frustrating at times, but there's just enough charm here to see the game through.

North Review

February 27, 2018 by Phil Myth in Reviews

North is an hour-long, continuous experience that pitches itself more as an artsy social commentary piece than a game. Unfortunately, it undermines it's goals through a combination of heavy-handedness, shoddy visuals, and cheap emotional manipulation achieved through simplistic means.

Vesta Review

February 12, 2018 by Phil Myth in Reviews

Ultimately Vesta does a lot right. Every one of the levels are cleverly designed and satisfying to puzzle out. The presentation won’t be to everyone’s liking, and the slow pace of traversal is almost completely off-putting, but the game’s narrative is compelling enough for you to want to see it through to the end.

Celeste Review

February 09, 2018 by Phil Myth in Reviews

Celeste is a meticulously crafted action-platformer with every well-oiled aspect of it coming together to form one glorious whole. The gorgeous presentation, finely balanced control mechanics, superlative level design and beautiful soundtrack would make this a worthy purchase on their own. But with a compelling and uplifting narrative woven throughout, Celeste is elevated from being a great game to a superb one.

Mujo Review

February 08, 2018 by Phil Myth in Reviews

If you really, really want to play this type of game, download it - for free - on your phone. It’s pretty enough to look at, but the shallow gameplay, blatant micro-transaction focused construction, and non-existent tailoring for a console release make Mujo utterly inexcusable.

Serial Cleaner Review

February 05, 2018 by Phil Myth in Reviews

Overall Serial Cleaner is a highly enjoyable game, and is cooler than a pair of aviators and a handle-bar moustache. The level design is perfectly varied, and there's enough hidden extras to keep you playing even after you finish the main campaign.

Squareboy Vs Bullies: Arena Edition Review

February 04, 2018 by Phil Myth in Reviews

Squareboy vs Bullies is rather simplistic, and it's easy enough to breeze through the main story without breaking a sweat. Fortunately though, the arena mode found in the 3DS and Switch versions make for some rather satisfying beat 'em up action, making Squareboy far more entertaining than, given it's basic construction, it really has any right to be.
