Gris Review

January 28, 2019 by Phil Myth in Reviews

Few games are as beautiful and as elegant as Gris. You won’t be challenged to finish it, and the 3 to 4 hour play time seems a shame when the world you inhabit is as gorgeous as this. But, as an experience, it’s a stunning piece of interactive art that excels in everything it sets out to do.

Super Destronaut DX Review

August 29, 2018 by Phil Myth in Reviews

Super Destronaut DX isn't going to win any prizes for originality, but if you're in the mood for some classic arcade shooting action, it's a well put together effort. Some deaths can feel a little cheap and frustrating, but the challenges and online leaderboards give you enough incentive to shake it off and dive in for one more run.

Punch Club Review

August 23, 2018 by Phil Myth in Reviews

Punch Club does a fantastic job of tapping into nostalgia. If you're a fan of 80s action films and 90s pop culture, there's more than enough to love here to make the basic though occasionally rewarding gameplay worthwhile. That said, the incredibly grindy nature of the early and late game sections stop the title from making the leap from amateur champion to heavyweight contender.

Flipping Death Review

August 17, 2018 by Phil Myth in Reviews

Flipping Death's side-splitting dark comedy is refreshing, well written and brilliantly performed, complemented by some incredible art and a wonderful soundtrack. With so much character, it's a must buy for fans of comedy or point-and-click adventures, with some excellent mechanics and puzzles throughout.

Mario Tennis Aces Review

June 27, 2018 by Phil Myth in Reviews

Mario Tennis Aces starts strongly, with a powerful serving of rock-solid core tennis, cleverly implemented new mechanics, and a fun Adventure Mode. But the absence of match customisation, a lack of polish in some areas, and sparse replayability, means it fails to capitalise on its baseline ingredients.

Soccer Slammers Review

June 15, 2018 by Phil Myth in Reviews

Soccer Slammers certainly looks cool from the outside. The unique artstyle wins you over instantly, and every World Cup team’s included - as well as a few extras to boot. Unfortunately, the core gameplay is incredibly dull, even in multiplayer, and you're unlikely to glean much enjoyment from it for more then 20 minutes or so.

Toki Tori 2+ Review

June 12, 2018 by Phil Myth in Reviews

Toki Tori 2+ is one of the most cleverly constructed puzzle games out there. Successfully navigating a room can make you feel smarter than Stephen Hawking. But those without the patience to sit there stumped, may find the combination of dastardly level design and a lack of motivation to persevere completely off-putting.
