Mario Kart 8 Deluxe May be fast approaching the 20 million units sold mark, but that doesn’t mean it’s the only game in town when it comes to kart racers on Switch.
There’s Team Sonic Racing of course, and Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, and evening Garfield. Though the less said about that last one the better.
Now it looks like we’re getting another entry in the genre, courtesy of illuCalab. The studio features ex-Mario Kart devs, so at the very least it should be more competent than the ginger fur ball’s outing.
Gensou Skydrift features a bunch of characters from the Touhou Project, with players selecting two to race as in a Double Dash-style setup. The even have their own stats and power-ups.
Unlike Double Dash though, there’s no kart to speak of, with one character riding on the back of the other, with the ability to switch at any point.
Theres 15 tracks on offer, alongside 20 characters. The game is due for release on 12 December for $23.99, though you can pre-order it from 5 December for a 20% discount.
Check out the trailer below, and let us know if you like the look of this one.
