The Elder Scrolls: Blades Delayed Until Next Year

The Elder Scolls: Blades - the free to play action RPG from Bethesda - won’t be making its original 2019 release date.

Originally released as a mobile title, Bethesda announced a Switch version earlier this year, complete with motion controls and cross-play. But, as they’ve been updating and adding to the mobile version of the game, it’s meant that the Switch version needs to be pushed back a few months.

“We know how eager our players are to dive into Blades on the Nintendo Switch and we’ve been hard at work to make it happen. Unfortunately, amidst all the other changes we’re making to Blades, we’ve had to delay our Switch release until early 2020.

We can’t wait until you can begin your quest in Blades on the Switch, and we’re confident this additional time will let us deliver the polished gameplay our fans deserve. We deeply appreciate your patience! As we’ve mentioned in a previous Town Hall, PvP matches will be cross-platform between mobile versions and the Switch version when it releases.”

Those changes have included the addition of PvP matches, coming to the mobile version next month. As the Switch iteration will feature cross-progression - players can continue their save file on both Switch and their mobile device - it makes sense that a little extra time is needed to bring the console release up to speed with the mobile one.
