Link Is Playable In Super Mario Maker 2 Update

Super Mario Maker 2 is getting its first major content drop featuring a whole host of new tools for players to experiment with, including the master sword.
Available in the Super Mario Bros. art style, the sword will turn Mario into Link. This isn’t just a sprite skin like the amiibo functionality from the first game though. As Link, players will be able to stab at enemies with his sword, bomb blocks, use his shield to deflect enemy attacks, and even fire off a bow and arrow.
There’s been some great Zelda-themed levels in the game already, and this should make them even more exciting.
Elsewhere in the reveal trailer - which you can view below - we’ve seen the addition of Spike and Pokey enemies for you to tackle too. The toolset will also see frozen coins, P Blocks and dash blocks available, though the former aren’t available in - and the latter are exclusive to - the 3D World art style.
Check out the video below, and let us know if you create any cool Zelda stages when the update arrives on 5 December. We may just revive Mario Maker Monday for a Zelda special!
