Mario Maker Monday - 22 July 2019
This article is part of a series originally written for TheNintendoVillage.com, a website I founded and ran from 2018 to 2021.
After last week’s challenging kaizo level we ave you guys we’re simplifying things a little bit this week, with three stages that offer a little resistance but are ultimately just fun to play through. Both the Nintendo Village and Villager’s Choice stages make good use of the on/off switch this week, while this week’s community stage is a fun exploration of some cabins in the woods.
Meanwhile, if you’ve been looking for a way to implement seesaws in your levels, Paul’s Pro Tips has got you covered.
Hope you have fun playing them all, and don’t forget to submit your stages using the form at the bottom of the page!
Nintendo Village Stage
Stage Name: ON/OFF
Stage ID: NNS-BH8-G3G
Created By Nathanzero aka @nathandelune
A stage from the newest member of Nintendo Village for you this week! Nathan has constructed a dastardly little level that combines some precise platforming with the need to hit the right switches at the right time.
If you’re clever you can sneak past a couple of obstacles, but there’s still tons of challenge here. Enjoy!
Villager’s Choice
Stage Name: Desert Temple Trials
Stage ID: HJW-QNG-5PG
Created By: Laake
One of our favourite tools in Super Mario Maker 2 is the On/Off switch and it’s used to great effect in this level by Laake.
There’s ones you activate yourself, as well as some clever uses of Thwomps and Bob-ombs employed here. Making your way through this desert temple was fun, and there’s some nifty little puzzles in there too. Give it a go!
Community Stage
Stage Name: Willow Woods
Stage ID: RYX-XJR-5LG
Created By: Whopper
A really fun level came in via our Discord this week. Whopper’s ‘Willow Woods’ level sees you trekking through a forest full of houses, twisters and Goombrats to hunt down three red coins.
Not the most difficult level you’ll play, but really nicely designed and well laid out. Great stuff!
Paul’s Pro Tips
Each week we’ll be featuring a ‘how to’ video from friend of the Village Paul Lloyd.
This week Paul’s got a few clever ways you can use seesaws in your levels.
Enjoy!
