Nintendo’s battle against piracy rages on, as the company this week filed a suit against the owner of a ROM website for copyright infringement.
Polygon reports that Nintendo is seeking damages of $150,000 for each copyright infringement, as well as a whopping $2 million for each trademark infringement.
The site apparently offers memberships, with subscribers able to download “an unlimited number of pirated games with higher speeds than non-members,” according to Nintendo. They also state that the site is one of the most ‘notorious’ for pirated Nintendo games, with around 300,000 and 500,000 ROMs available for Switch and 3DS respectively.
The suit, filed on 10 September, follows a ruling in the UK high court earlier this week which compelled 5 ISPs to block or impede access to four other sites that distributed pirated Switch games and hardware.
