Dataminers Uncover Code For Super Mario Party DLC

Data sleuths have uncovered some unused code within Super Mario Party that seems to show plans for additional content for the game.
Dataminer Ziella has discovered that the code makes reference to both ‘DLC1’ and a ‘Season Pass’ - pretty unambiguous references - indicating that updates must have been part of Nintendo’s thinking at some point in time. Despite selling just shy of 7 million units, no additional content has been delivered.
It seems odd considering the likes of ARMS and Mario Tennis Aces received free updates with added characters and game modes, despite selling far fewer. But then Super Mario Odyssey didn’t get a whole lot of post-launch content either and that stands at around 15 milllion units sold. Nintendo can be a funny bunch sometimes.
Elsewhere in the code an unused board has been revealed, which you can see in the image below.
This is all a bit disappointing - Super Mario Party arguably could have used some extra content - but maybe the strong sales numbers and the ditching of any expansions means a second game is headed to Switch.
What do you think? Would you have bought a Super Mario Party Season Pass? Let us know in the comments below.
