Grand Theft Auto III Rated in Australia - Switch Bound?

Given the success of latest en ports such as Doom and Wolfenstein, there’s been plenty of chatter on the web about whether or not the much feted Grand Theft Auto V could make its way onto Switch. If the Australian Classification Board is anything to go by though, it could well be a different GTA game headed to the hybrid system.

It turns out that Grand Theft Auto III has received a new classification, meaning the internet’s gone a bit nuts trying to figure out what this all means. It’s safe to say that the game is likely being re-released in some format, but what we just don’t know.

It could well be headed to Google’s Stadia platform, or it could be a release of the game down under that includes all content. As pointed out by Videogamer, the original had to be scaled down by Take Two Interactive after the Aussies originally banned the game thanks to it’s notorious violence. That version was rated MA15+, whereas this new classification is rated R 18+, so it could well be a re-release of the unedited version of the game.

So there are a number of reasons why this has surfaced, but GTA on Switch is definitely the one we’re hoping is the most accurate!
