Switch Has Been The US' Best Selling Console For 22 Months Straight

We’re big fans of the Switch here at Nintendo Village. Shocking that, I know. But as it turns out, we’re not the only ones who dig Nintendo’s hybrid system.

As Nintendo revealed themselves back in August, the console was on the cusp of surpassing the NES’ worldwide sales, with units sold hitting 61.44 million units. Roughly a third of those came from the Americas, which may go some way to explain how the Switch has been the best selling console in the US now for 22 months running.

The run dates back all the way to December 2018 - around the time Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was launched - and surpasses the previous 21 month record held by the Xbox 360.

With new consoles from both Sony and Microsoft launching next month, it remains to be seen whether the Switch can continue its impressive sales streak into the holidays, but given the scarcity of new systems at launch and the much lower price point, we wouldn’t necessarily bet against it!
