Ed Boon Would Love To See Mortal Kombat Represented In Smash

Now that Fighters Pass Vol.1 has been completed, thoughts have naturally turned to who will be taking the six slots available for Fighters Pass Vol.2. Sakurai has already told us that the half-dozen characters in question have already been decided of course, but that hasn’t stopped fans speculating about who should be included.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate already contains some solid fighting game representation through the likes of Ryu, Ken and Terry Bogard, but one iconic fighting game has yet to be included. Mortal Kombat is a name familiar to fighting fans all over the world, and now the series’ creator, Ed Boon, has given his two cents on whether he’d like to see Scorpio or Sub-Zero show up in Nintendo’s brawler.

In an interview with Shack News at DICE (where Mortal Kombat XI picked up best fighting game), he said:

“For me personally (I can’t speak for all of Warner Bros or anything), but it would be kind of like a stamp of approval, like a part of the gang and all that stuff. I would love to see that.”

We doubt the elaborate and bloody finishers would translate to the colourful world of Smash, but there’s no denying a franchise like Mortal Kombat would be very worthy of inclusion in some way, shape or form. You can check out the full interview with Boon below.

Let us know if you think Sub Zero should be one of the lucky six to be included in the next batch of DLC, down in the comments.
