New Animal Crossing Trailer And Details

We’re only a month and a half away from embarking on a Nook Island Getaway, and Nintendo continue to drip feed us the tiniest morsels of information in the run up to the game’s release. The latest trailer gives us a glimpse of some of the core elements we’ve seen previously, such as catching bugs and placing furniture outside.

The newest thing we’re shown though is the game’s title screen, featuring one of the Nook twins running around, the version number in the top right corner, and a save data menu in the bottom left - presumably where you can wipe clean your island (heaven forbid).

Here’s the brief ad in question:

In other news, the official Australian site for the game has revealed some interesting info regarding the game’s multiplayer, and your own specific island.

As we knew, you can have up to 8 players on any one system all inhabiting the same island. Four of those players can run around catching fish and digging up fossils simultaneously, but fans will be limited to one island per console. Here’s the relevant small print:

“Up to 8 players registered as users on a Nintendo Switch console can live on one shared island, and up to four residents of one island can play simultaneously on one console. Please note: only one island can exist per Nintendo Switch console, irrespective of the number of users registered to or copies of the game used on one console. One Nintendo Switch and one copy of the game is required for each unique island.

Alternatively, up to eight people can play together on one island via local wireless or online play.”

Many Animal Crossing fans have bought multiple copies of the game in the past in order to run multiple towns. It looks like you’ll need a whole second Switch in order to do that this time around though, with your save data being stored on the console itself - no swapping microSD cards to change islands.

Still, even with that minor drawback the hype continues to ramp up as we head toward release. Are you someone who likes to run multiple towns and are disappointed by that limitation? Let us know down in the comments.
