The Wonderful 101 Remastered Targeting 1080p and 60fps

The Wonderful 101 Kickstarter is now closing in on it’s $1.5m stretch goal of an additional 2D adventure, but the core game will be getting a spruce up as well. In a new FAQ posted on the page, Platinum have answered questions about the specifications the game is aiming for:

Can you give us more information on the technical specifications for The Wonderful 101: Remastered?

Yes! The technical specs for each platform are:

Switch:
Resolution:Portable 720p/Docked 1080p
FPS:Targeted 60fps

PS4:
Resolution:PS4 1080p/PS4Pro 2160p
FPS: Targeted 60fps

Steam:
Resolution:1080p with Super Wide monitor support planned
FPS:Targeted 60fps

As you can see, they’re aiming for the best the Switch can manage, shooting for 720p in handheld and 1080p docked, with a smooth 60fps the goal for framerate performance. By comparison, the Wii U version maxed out at 720p due to that console’s limitations, and although it targeted 60fps, it occasionally dipped below that when things got hectic on screen.

It would appear Platinum are hoping to utilise the Switch’s extra oomph to make The Wonderful 101 Remastered the truly definitive version of the game.

Meanwhile, as well as the aforementioned $1.5m stretch goal, a $1.75m one has also been added, which will see the game’s soundtrack remastered with an additional (unannounced) special guest. Hideki Kamiya, the game’s director, also shared some early concept and design images. We’ve picked out a few below, but we’d really recommend going to check out the full selection, and reading the story behind the game’s creation.
