Nintendo Is Banning Animal Crossing Hackers
This article was originally written for TheNintendoVillage.com, a website I founded and ran from 2018 to 2021.
There’s been much ado about Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ save data, and we recently learned that part of the reason transferring saves (and the reason cloud saves are out) is due to the save data being encrypted in order to stop cheaters.
Well, no sooner was the game available to pre-install than hackers were able to fashion a tool allowing them to access that encrypted data. In order to stop those players gaining an unfair advantage, the latest patch will ban players who go online with cheats or mods active.
How are you finding the game so far? Let us know down in the comments!
