Super Smash Bros Ultimate Seemingly Cut From EVO Online

As reported earlier this month, EVO 2020 has been moved to an online tournament this year in the wake of coronavirus. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was originally in the lineup for this year’s event, but in a new trailer for the online version, it appears to have been cut.
A new trailer detailing what’s to be expected from the online version of the tournament neglects to feature Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, with the logo removed from the graphic detailing the games to be featured.
You can see for yourself in the tweet below:
Some are speculating that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has been cut due to it’s notoriously bad netcode, which makes serious competitive play difficult to execute in an online setting.
The video states that there’s ‘special exhibitions and content’ for those games that were included in the original lineup, so it’s possible that there won’t be any competitive matches at all for those titles.
We’ll let you know as soon as we hear any more.
