EVO 2020 Cancelled With Online Event Scheduled Instead

Despite aiming to move forward as planned back in March, organisers behind EVO have now accepted the inevitable and cancelled this years’ event.
It was announced, via Twitter, that the tournament would no longer be taking place in Las Vegas due to coronavirus concerns, but would instead be replaced by an online event:
Arena tickets and hotel reservations will apparently be refunded for those who were planning to attend. As you can see from the above tweet, more information will be revealed soon.
Among the games confirmed for the event is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, though there is some concern amongst the pro Smash community about how well the game will perform at an event like EVO given the problems with it’s online arrangements. The hashtag #FixUltimateOnline was trending last weekend as players bemoaned the state of the game’s netcode and input lag.
