Update 22 June 2020: Square Enix have officially confirmed that the game is headed to the West. Here’s an excerpt from the English press release, via Nintendo Life:
KINGDOM HEARTS Melody of Memory provides fans with an unmissable opportunity to relive their favorite moments like never before. Players will journey through iconic Disney worlds, and join forces with recognizable Disney characters whilst enjoying unforgettable KINGDOM HEARTS series music, alongside timeless tracks from Disney’s cinematic classics. Alongside the engaging single-player content, KINGDOM HEARTS Melody of Memory invites players to enjoy unforgettable melodies together with online* multiplayer for even more of a challenge.
Original Story: Kingdom Hearts is a series many have wanted to see on Nintendo platforms for a long time. Well, thanks to a new announcement from Square Enix, fans are now seeing just that - albeit maybe not quite in the form they were expecting.
The Japanese studio have revealed a new trailer for a rhythm-game set in the Kingdom Hearts universe. The description, according to a translation by Gematsu, reads as follows:
“Many characters from the Kingdom Hearts series appear as playable characters!
Depending on the stage, Disney characters will appear as guests and lend you their strength. The game features a massive catalog of over 140 songs, including music from the Kingdom Hearts series, Disney, and more. Enjoy rhythm-based action through unforgettable music.
There are four play modes including online battles.”
Gameplay seems to consist of performing attacks in time with the music to take down chains of enemies.
The game is apparently due out later this year. Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think!
