Yoshinori Ono, the man who spearheaded the revival of the Street Fighter franchise, has announced he’s leaving Capcom after nearly 30 years at the company.

He announced his departure on Twitter, posting a statement that also addressed this year’s Capcom Pro Tour Online competition, which has been mired in controversy after top players dropped out due to Street Fighter V’s poor netcode.

Ono joined Capcom in the early 90s, though is best known for reviving the Street Fighter brand with 2009’s Street Fighter IV. He acted as the producer on that game, as well as the version that made its way to the 3DS. As well as Street Fighter he’s also been involved in other Capcom franchises such as Resident Evil and Monster Hunter.
