Nintendo’s latest financial reports are out, and with it, they’ve updated the sales figures for their games and consoles. To the surprise of no-one, Animal Crossing New Horizons is absolutely flying.
The game has now surpassed Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s 20 million units to sit second in the Switch’s all-time best sellers list, having sold a whopping 22.4 million copies since it launched a little over 4 months ago. It also seems to be driving Switch sales, with Nintendo reporting that of the consoles that were first booted up over the latest financial period, over half of them were used to play Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still the best seller, now sitting at 26.74 million units sold. That’s not a million miles ahead of Animal Crossing though, so it’ll be interesting to see if it’s crown can be usurped over the coming months.
Both Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition and 51 Clubhouse Games managed to surpass the million mark, selling 1.32m and 1.03m copies resepectively. Meanwhile, Ring Fit Adventure continues its impressive sales numbers, now passing 4 million copies sold despite ongoing shortages.
Here’s the top ten sellers:
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - 26.74 million
Animal Crossing New Horizons - 22.4 million
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - 19.9 million
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - 18.6 million
