Goldeneye 007 Remaster Looks Incredible

There’s no question that Goldeneye 007 is one of the N64’s most iconic games. Many a Nintendo fan has spent hours and hours running around Facility and arguing about whether or not it’s fair to play as Oddjob (Pro tip: just play as Jaws. He’s taller and aims down by default - instant headshots on Oddjob).
There’s been a fan remake of the game in the works for a little while now, and the guy behind the game - 3D artist Ben Coclough - has shared a new trailer of the Silo level and hoo-boy does it look impressive.
Created in the Unreal engine, the level is apparently “80-85% complete” and we have to say, it’s an incredibly faithful recreation. Glass can be shot out of the lights, the sound effects are spot on, even the dying animations of the gunned down baddies are accurate.
The game is hopefully going to be released on PC for free in August 2022 - twenty-five years since the debut of the original. As a result, the project is titled Goldeneye 25. We sincerely hope that Ben isn’t hit with a cease and desist before then. Though given that the question of who owns the rights to the original game is a bit of a mess, we kinda hope nobody’s sure if they’re able to do such a thing anyway.
Either way, check out the gameplay trailer below. It’s so good that former Rare developer David Doak - yes, that Dr Doak - has himself sad that “General Ourumov would be proud.” We couldn’t agree more.
