Smash Can Have 'Whatever' Overwatch Hero Sakurai Wants

We’ve had some incredible additions to the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster already. As much as we hoped, I don’t think we ever thought we’d see the likes of Banjo-Kazooie join the fight. Then there’s left field additions like Joker of Persona 5 fame and the upcoming release of Fatal Fury’s Terry Bogard.

All bets are off for any future combatants then - especially following the recent reveal that there’s further DLC to come after the initial Fighter’s Pass is complete.

Should an Overwatch Hero be included? Why not?! The game launches on Switch this month after all. As it turns out, Blizzard are on board too.

Speaking to IGN, lead director Jeff Kaplan said Sakurai and his team can take “whatever character they want” to be included in the crossover brawler:

“To the Smash Brothers team, whatever character you want, we love them all. They’re all our babies, you can have any single one of them. We have 31 to choose from.”

Kaplan himself would pick Tracer though:

Tracer's our girl, Tracer's our mascot. She'd be my first choice. There's a lot of great runners up. I think a lot of people can immediately see Doomfist gameplay applying to Smash, but if it were up to me, I'd like to see Tracer.

Sakurai has already declared that Ultimate is likely to be a one off. This kind of roster is unlikely to ever be topped, so if someone like Tracer or Doomfist is going to get an invitation, this is the time.

Which Overwatch Hero would you like to see in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate? Let us know down in the comments.
