Miyamoto Recognised As 'Person Of Cultural Merit' In Japan.

Super Mario, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda… the list goes on an on. The man behind all of these iconic franchises - and a few more besides - has now been honoured in his homeland as a ‘Person of Cultural Merit.’

Shigeru Miyamoto has been selected for the annual honour in light of the contribution he has made to Japanese culture. He’s undoubtedly left his mark in Japan, but that reach also extends out to the entire world. The video game industry would look incredibly different without Mr Miyamoto’s work, so it’s no surprise he’s been selected for the award.

Needless to say, we think he’s more than deserving of it here at Nintendo Village. Congratulations Mr Miyamoto!
