Nintendo have release their latest earnings report and there’s some seriously impressive sales numbers for Switch and its games.
The system itself has shifted a grand total of 41.67 million units worldwide, meaning it could well surpass the Xbox One’s almost 43 million sales within the next few months. Not bad for a system that released four years later.
The Switch Lite shifted crazy numbers too, selling 1.95 million units in its first 10 days on sale. Combined, the Switch family of systems sits at fourth in Nintendo’s all-time best sellers list, behind the Wii, NES and SNES. With games like Pokémon Sword and Shield, Animal Crossing : New Horizons and Metroid Prime 4 still to come, it’s going to be fascinating to see where the Switch ens up by the time it’s lifecycle is over.
Speaking of software, Nintendo also released the top ten selling games on Switch up to 30 September. The most staggering entry in the list is The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, whose current sales stand at 3.13 million despite only being on the market for 10 days when the numbers were compiled.
Here’s the full list:
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - 19.01 million
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - 15.71 million
Super Mario Odyssey - 14.54 million
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - 13.61 million
Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu! and Eevee! - 11.28 million
Splatoon 2 - 9.28 million
Super Mario Party - 7.59 million
New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe - 4.59 million
Super Mario Maker 2 - 3.93 million
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening - 3.13 million
It’s crazy to see Mario Kart 8 Deluxe closing in on 20 million units considering it’s a port. The tally means it’s now surpassed Mario Kart 7 on the 3DS. There’s still a long way to go before it tops the 37.24 million units of Mario Kart Wii mind you.
All in all though, those are some healthy sales numbers for Switch, and with the software still to come in the system, the future is looking rosy for Nintendo.
