Tri-Heart Interactive have dropped the first official reveal trailer for their upcoming shooter The Otterman Empire.

The game features Otters - naturally - and a few other aquatic creatures all equipped with water-powered weapons and jetpacks. Players have to dive into a body of water to replenish their fuel and ammo, in much the same way that ink works in Splatoon.

Rounds are split into three stages, each with differing objectives. So you might have a King of the Hill mode in one round, and the Harry Potter-esque Squidditch in another, with the victor declared after all three rounds. It’s a neat twist on the shooter genre and keeps things interesting throughout the matches.

The jetpacks add a unique aspect too, as a lot of aerial battles take place along with the run and gun fun.

We got to play an early build of the game a couple of months back and really enjoyed our time with it. You can check out the full trailer below:
