Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 is shaping up to be one of the most substantial entries in the series to date. As a further example of that, Nintendo have dropped a new trailer for three new ‘dream events’ that spin some of the more traditional Olympic events on their head.

Dream Shooting sees characters taking potshots at targets dotted around a traditional Japanese manor, while Dream Karate has you trying to floor opponents to light up coloured squares. The fighter with the most squares lit up at the end of the round wins. It’s martial arts meets a hi-tech version of Splatoon.

Finally, there’s Dream Racing - a downhill course complete with question-mark power ups and obstacles where pulling off tricks will earn you a speed boost. Oh and you’re on hover boards.

You can check out the trailer and a bunch of new screenshots below. We’re actually starting to get pretty hyped for this one!

The game releases on 9 November.
