There’s shed-loads of games dropping during the final few months of this year, so any help on the cash front is always welcome. Fortunately for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe players, they can earn a few Gold Coins in an upcoming tournament to get a sweet discount off the likes of Luigi’s Mansion 3 and Pokemon Sword and Shield.

The competition, open to players in the US, Canada and Mexico, was announced by the Nintendo Versus Twitter account.

Play kicks off at 10am Pacific Time on 22 September, and the tournament will run to 8pm the same day. The top 8 will be announced on or around 27 September, and they’ll receive a sweet 2500 Gold Points into their My Nintendo account. That translates to $25 to spend on the Switch eShop - nice!
