More Details On Pokémon World Championships Revealed
This article was originally written for TheNintendoVillage.com, a website I founded and ran from 2018 to 2021.
This year’s Pokémon World Championships are taking place outside of North America for the first time this year, and we’ve now got some dates and a location, courtesy of a Tweet from PokémonNewsUK.
The competition is being hosted at London’s ExCel event center, taking place from the 14 to 16 August. The official website has conveniently linked to a list of nearby hotels for those travelling to the tournament too. You can check that out here.
As well as the main tournaments centred around the video and trading card games, the event will also play host to ‘side tournaments, special events, and other activities’ for Pokémon fans in general. There’s no details on the pricing or availability of spectator passes yet, but we’ll keep you posted as to when there is.
The pop-up Pokémon Center London, that saw unprecedented demand with queues of 9 hours and huge stock shortages by the time it closed, will also be making a return for the Championships. Here’s hoping they’ve produced some more of those London Pikachu plushes!
Head over to the official website for more details on the competition, including on how you can enter too! Let us know if you’re going to be competing!
