No Microtransactions In Doom Eternal

Doom Eternal will feature extra cosmetics for you to play dress-up with the Doomslayer, but you needn’t worry about having to make extra purchases to unlock them. Those skins will be earned solely through earning XP as you go about cutting demons in half.

In fact, the upcoming shooter will have no microtransactions or store of any kind. That’s according to Creative Director Hugo Martin, who answered a fan question on Facebook about the possibility of in-game purchases making an appearance.

Confirming that Doom Eternal will be a complete experience he said:

“Eternal is a $60 game, not a free-to-play game or a mobile game - we are giving u a complete experience with no store just like you'd expect.”

In a world where AAA titles often feature an in-game store to make a little extra money, it’s always nice to see one pop up that has no such thing. Doom did feature multiplayer DLC at one point, but it was eventually offered for free - presumably to avoid splitting the player-base.

Doom Eternal is due to arrive on other consoles on March 20, but the Switch version has been delayed for the time being. Hopefully we won’t have too long to wait before we can go slaying too.
