Astral Chain Sold "Above Expectations"

Astral Chain was one of the standout Switch exclusives of last year. After widespread critical acclaim, it went on to top the sales charts in the UK, and only narrowly missed out on doing the same in Japan. Fans hoping for a sequel will be encouraged by that strong performance.
It’s not gone unnoticed by the game’s director either. In an upcoming issue of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, Platinum’s Takahis Taura and Hideki Kamiya sit down for what promises to be a rather interesting chat. Thanks to the website ryokutya2089.com, we’ve gotten a sneak preview in which Taura reveals that Astral Chain sold “above expectations”.
That’s great news, especially given Taura’s previous comments regarding a follow up. He said he had plenty of ideas knocking around for a sequel in an interview last year, but any second game would be reliant on a strong performance from the initial title.
Needless to say, it’s good to see that Astral Chain has performed well. With Platinum recently gaining added investment from Chinese tech giant Tencent, fans hoping for a sequel could well be in for a treat some time in the future.
Would you like to see a sequel to Astral Chain? Let us know down in the comments.
