New Horizons Save Data Recovery Is A One Time Deal

Yesterday’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons Direct certainly gave a lot of fans a bunch of functionality they’ve always dreamt of. From choosing where new villagers place their houses, to terraforming the entire island, Nintendo are giving players more control than ever before.
One area where fans may still feel a little short changed though, is in the cloud save department. We’ve long known that the game won’t support cloud saves at all, but there has been hints of a recovery service for players who misplace or damage their console.
However, as the eagle-eyed guys over at Nintendo Life have spotted, a small disclaimer during the section of the Direct that talked about save data recovery, revealed the service is a one-time only offer. The small print reads:
“Nintendo Switch Online members can only have save data recovered one time due to the loss or damage of system.”
That’s pretty unambiguous, so if you’re one of the clumsier players out there, you may want to be extra careful with your system once New Horizons arrives.
Check out our rundown of the biggest features that were revealed in the Direct yesterday, and let us know what you’re most excited for down in the comments!
