EGX Rezzed Postponed Due To Coronavirus

Coronavirus has claimed another gaming-event scalp, as the indie-focused EGX Rezzed here in the UK has been pushed back to the summer. Orgainsers reluctantly decided on the postponement as the country starts stepping up it’s response to the virus.
A statement issued on the official website said:
“Having monitored the situation around COVID-19 constantly over these last few weeks and following many hours of conversation internally and with our partners, we have taken the incredibly difficult decision to move EGX: Rezzed to Summer 2020 with date and announcement forthcoming. We did everything that we could to try to run the event as planned, but ultimately, maintaining social distancing is neither feasible at, nor in the spirit of, the interactive and community nature of Rezzed. It is the community that makes Rezzed so special and it is our duty to make sure that your safety comes first.”
Although EGX are calling it a postponement rather than a cancellation, there is no hard and fast new date for the event, likely due to the fact we still have no idea how long the pandemic is likely to continue for.
Fans are reassured that tickets will be valid for the re-arranged date, but are encouraged to get in touch for a refund should they be unable to attend when the new dates are announced.
The postponement comes in the wake of E3’s cancellation, as well as the cancellation of other event such as GDC and the European Pokémon Championships.
