Kamiya: Email Capcom About Viewtiful Joe 3

This article was originally written for TheNintendoVillage.com, a website I founded and ran from 2018 to 2021.

Before he was creating the likes of The Wonderful 101 and Bayonetta at Platinum, Hideki Kamiya was creating awesome experiences at Clover Studios. Among those game he was involved in were Viewtiful Joe and Okami. They’re two series that fans have long wished to see new entries for (Viewtful Joe already has one sequel and two spin-offs of course), and Kamiya was asked about the prospect at PAX East.

Speaking on a panel at the event, someone brought up the possibility of working on older or cancelled IP such as Scalebound or Okami. He had a typical Kamiya response:

Capcom of course own the rights to those games, so the decision about any sequels ultimately rests with them. Kamiya and artist Ikumi Nakamura seemingly tried to force Capcom’s hand last year, with a cheeky video saying Okami was going to be back.

There’s been no official announcement for the game yet though. We can live in hope! Let us know your thoughts on a new entry for Viewtiful Joe or Okami down in the comments!
