Official ARMS Online Tournament Announced

Remember ARMS? The brand new fighting game Nintendo launched not long after the Switch itself? Well we certainly do, and Nintendo have seemingly jogged it’s memory about the springy-appendaged battler as they’ve just announced a new official tournament out of nowhere.

The ARMS North American Online Open - for that is what it’s called - will be kicking off from 4 April, with 2500 gold coins up for grabs for whoever emerges victorious.

Registration is open now, but is unfortunately only open to residents of the US, Canada and Mexico. You can find out more info, along with all the requisite Ts & Cs, here.

The last update for the game was all the way back in September 2018 with a few tweaks and voice chat (via the Nintendo Switch Online app) added. Other than that it’s been all quiet on the ARMS front for the last 18 months or so.

We can’t help but speculate that this sudden re-emergence hints at something bigger. Perhaps the game will finally be getting some representation in the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster? Or maybe there’s even a sequel in the works?

Either way, we’re glad to see the game get some love. It’s massively underrated if you ask us. Let us know if you’ll be competing down in the comments!
