No amiibo Support For Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition

One of the handful of games that was released for the slightly more powerful ‘new’ 3DS was a port of the Wii’s Xenoblade Chronicles. That game’s now making its way to Switch at the end of May, but it will be without some of the features added for the 3DS version.

Chief amongst them is the amiibo functionality. Players could scan their Shulk amiibo once a day to unlock character models and tunes from the game’s soundtrack which could be listened to in Collection Mode. The other way to unlock tracks was via Street Pass, so we imagine Collection Mode could well be missing entirely from the Definitive Edition.

That said, the 3DS version did feature a jukebox mode that allowed you to listen to music whilst the system is in sleep mode. This is something we’ve seen on Switch already in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, so perhaps Nintendo will find a way to include that sweet, sweet music that doesn’t involve walking past people when you’re out and about. Nobody’s allowed out side right now after all.

Are you disappointed you won’t be able to use your Shulk amiibo in Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition? Tell us all about it down in the comments.
