Nintendo Have No Plans To Reschedule June Direct

Last week, Venture Beat reported that Nintendo wouldn’t be holding their traditional June Direct (usually during E3) due to the impact of coronavirus, telling publisher partners they wouldn’t be airing a presentation next month. For those hoping to see that presentation at a later date, you may be out of luck.
According to a new report by Venture Beat’s Jeff Grubb who broke the original story, Nintendo are telling those partners “not to wait for a Direct, even if they have a big announcement.”
Obviously we got the surprise drop of a trailer for the previously unannounced Paper Mario: The Origami King last week, and it’s hard to believe that that game wasn’t originally meant for a Direct of some description. We could well get a few more ‘out-of-nowhere’ trailers if this latest story is correct, and not just from Nintendo.
Are you disappointed by the cancellation of June’s Direct, or do you prefer the surprise trailer approach? Let us know down in the comments.
