It was an unusual journey to theatres for Sonic the Hedgehog, but it was ultimately a successful one. The film surpassed Detective Pikachu to become the most successful videogame movie adaptation ever, so it’s little wonder that Paramount Pictures would want a second slice of the pie.

The company has officially confirmed that a sequel is in the works, with Jeff Fowler returning as Director, and Pat Casey and Josh Miller resuming script-writing duties.

It’s still early days so no decision has been made on casting as yet, nor on when the flick will commence production.
