Following last week’s Pokémon Presents video, in which we saw a new app and two new games (including Pokémon Snap - huzzah), the Pokémon Company have today detailed a third free-to-start game that’s headed to Switch and mobile devices.

Pokémon Unite will see two teams of five people battling it out in real-time arena battles, with the goal of catching Pokémon and returning them to your team’s scoring areas for points.

Defeating wild Pokémon will level up your playable Pokémon, allowing you to evolve and learn new moves according to your chosen playstyle.

There are also special attacks unique to the game called Unite moves. These can potentially deal damage to multiple opponents. Despite that though. there are no type advantages within the game.

As mentioned, Pokémon Unite will be free to start, and will allow players to team up and compete across both Switch and mobile devices. No word on whether progression will also carry across devices yet though, or on a release date.
