Nintendo Treehouse Live Taking Place On 10 July

The window for E3 came and went without a replacement Nintendo Direct. We did get the announcement of Paper Mario: The Origami King though, and now we’re going to get an in-depth look at the game ahead of its release next week.

Nintendo Treehouse Live - another staple of Nintendo’s traditional E3 showing - is holding a special livestream tomorrow showcasing Mario’s latest outing, as well as a mysterious new game yet to be announced.

As you can see from the above Tweet, developer WayForward - the guys behind the Shantae series amongst others - will be showcasing an upcoming game. The wording of the tweet suggests that it’s not an entirely new franchise however, with the tease indicating it’s a title in a franchise new to WayForward, not new from.

Perhaps WayForward will be the latest indie developer to take on an established name from the Nintendo stable, following Brace Yourself Games’ Cadence of Hyrule last year. (Update: Nintendo must have seen this sort of speculation and have moved to quieten down expectations a little, confirming in a follow-up tweet that it’s a game from a third-party franchise - not a Nintendo one.)

The stream will be taking place at 10am PT / 6pm UK time over on Nintendo’s YouTube channel.

Let us know what you’re hoping to see down in the comments!
