Confirmed: LEGO NES On The Way
This article was originally written for TheNintendoVillage.com, a website I founded and ran from 2018 to 2021.
Update: It’s official - Nintendo have now dropped a brief trailer over on Twitter that showcases the set, which will launch alongside the LEGO Super Mario sets on 1 August. There’s a retro TV and NES in the package, the latter of which also includes an operable front flap and a Super Mario Bros cartridge you can insert. A handle on the TV also allows you to scroll through World 1-1, and attaching the Mario figure from the LEGO Super Mario set will play the music and sound effects to boot. Check it out!
Original Story: The LEGO Mario sets are due to arrive next month, but it would appear that that’s not the only collection on the way from the company’s partnership with Nintendo.
Japanese website VJGamer has shown a host of leaked images of a new NES set, complete with CRT TV and Super Mario Bros. tableau. Check it out:
Naturally, we always need to take these kind of leaks with a grain of salt, but LEGO themselves have dropped a very brief teaser that seems to show the set hidden in the shadows:
It looks like an absolutely awesome set (we can feel our wallets cowering at the prospect), and we’ll let you know the details as soon as it gets officially confirmed!
Let us know down in the comments if you like the look of this one!
