Bloomberg Also Suggests A New Switch Is Coming Next Year

Yesterday brought us news - via a Taiwanese newspaper - that Nintendo were planning on launching a new Switch model in Q1 2021. Now, Bloomberg are corroborating that report with one of their own.

Citing sources “familiar with the matter”, they suggest that Nintendo’s relative silence this year is due to a focus on next year’s pipeline and ensuring this new model has a solid lineup of games to accompany it.

The report says that the specifications have yet to be finalized, but asserts that Nintendo have examined 4K support and increased power according to those who briefed Bloomberg on the plans.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard rumours of a new Switch model this year, with various reports suggesting that a revised console could be arriving at some point. This is despite Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa telling investors back in January (before coronavirus hit) that Nintendo had ‘no plans’ to release a new model in 2020.

That said, when the Switch’s firmware was updated to version 10.0.0, code was found referencing a new model besides the current one and the Switch Lite. So who knows what’s happening at the Big N right now.

Needless to say, we’ll keep you posted if we hear any more about this elusive Switch Pro.
