A General Nintendo Direct Could Be Coming This Week

We’re rapidly approaching one year since the last general Nintendo Direct, but if industry rumours are to be believed, there may be one happening soon.

Venture Beat’s Jeff Grubb, on last week’s GamesBeat Decides show, suggested that a Direct could be happening later this week:

“I’ve heard a few things and I think there’s a strong possibility that there is a Nintendo Direct next week, on Friday. That’s the date I’ve heard.”

He’s since taken to Twitter to try and temper expectations, but has reitereated that something should be happening soon.

During the recent Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase, Nintendo did suggest that there would be more of that type of presentation coming soon, so we may well be looking at another instance of that. This is something Grubb also suggested was the case, with a general Direct potentially arriving “by the middle of September.”

We’ve also heard from our own sources at a major third party - who will reportedly be revealing the latest entry in a long-running franchise - that some form of Nintendo Direct is also due within the next two weeks.

We did of course get an Indie World Showcase early last week, and this wouldn’t be the first time that a larger Direct has followed such a presentation. Either way, we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as anything is confirmed!
