Mother Original Soundtrack Releasing On Clear Vinyl
This article was originally written for TheNintendoVillage.com, a website I founded and ran from 2018 to 2021.
We may still be waiting on that Mother 3 translation, but Sony (of all people) are releasing a special edition of the Mother soundtrack on clear vinyl on Christmas Day.
The double LP features recordings from Keiichi Suzuki's Moonriders, and is being released in celebration of the game’s 30th anniversary. Although it never launched in the west back on the NES, we did eventually get a port - entitled Earthbound Beginnings - on the Wii U back in 2015.
The vinyl will cost ¥5,500 (which is somewhere in the region of $50) and can be pre-ordered from Sony’s online music store. Unfortunately, they don’t ship outside of Japan, but keep an eye on Play Asia as they do carry the non-special edition version. Fingers crossed it will show up there at some point too.
