Switch’s first year was an absolute belter, with both new Zelda and Mario games dropping within 7 months of each other. That latter game has now surpassed a significant sales milestone in Japan.

According to Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, Super Mario Odyssey has now sold over 2 million physical copies in the country. Yes, that’s just physical copies, digital sales aren’t included in the figures. Odyssey joins Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Splatoon 2 in the exclusive club.

According to the latest data, that puts global sales of the game at just under 15 million - with Nintendo listing worldwide sales of the game at 14.94 million units. That’s bettered only by Mario Kart 8 Deluxe which currently sits at an impressive 17.89 million sales. Not bad for a port!
