Switch Dominates Japanese Sales Charts

Nintendo has gotten off to a flyer this year in it’s home country of Japan, with Switch titles taking 26 of the top 30 spots for the first week of 2020. Pokémon Sword and Shield combined to take the top spot with a total of 196,925 units sold in the week running from 30 December to 5 January.
That puts combined lifetime sales of the games at over 3 million copies, just the third game to reach the milestone in Japan after Splatoon 2 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Elsewhere Luigi’s Mansion 3 and Ring Fit Adventure both passed the half a million mark as Japanese Nintendo fans look to meet their new years’ resolutions of getting in shape and, err, ridding haunted hotels of poltergeists.
