A press event by Universal Studios Japan has revealed a whole load of new information about the upcoming Super Nintendo World and frankly, we can’t work out why we haven’t already booked our flights.

As reported by Bloomberg journalist Kurumi Mori on Twitter, who was at the event, Super Nintendo World will open in Osaka this summer, before the Tokyo Olympics. There’ll also be three more parks opening in Orlando, Hollywood and Singapore at a later date.

As for what people can expect to find when they enter the real-life Mushroom Kingdom, the park will use ‘Power Up Bands’ - similar to Disney’s Magic Bands for those of you who’ve visited Mickey and co - along with a smartphone app to track activities around the park.

Speaking of Disney, Universal Studios Japan Marketing Director Ayumu Yamamoto had a cheeky dig at the Magic Kingdom saying if that’s the dream world, then Universal Studios Japan is the wake world where “we will energize you and make you feel alive.”

As if to emphasise the point, Nintendo have also dropped a new music video to promote the park, featuring Galantis and Charli XCX called ‘Born To Play’. It’s standard club chart fare set off nicely with some Super Mario Bros music woven into the song. Check it out in the video below:
