The Cindered Shadows DLC is available today for US Fire Emblem: Three Houses fans (it arrives in Europe and Japan tomorrow), and Nintendo have dropped a bunch of extra info over on the Japanese website for the game, as well as a host of new screens.
As reported previously, the expansion adds a fourth house to the game in the form of the Ashen Wolves, a group of disillusioned students who reside in the Abyss beneath Garreg Mach monastery. We now know though, that there’s no weekdays or holidays, instruction periods or qualification exams.
The available party members are restricted, as are the classes and skills you get to choose from. Make it far enough through the DLC though, and members of the Ashen Wolves will show up in the main game, allowing you to invite them to join your house and have extra support conversations with them.
There’s a few activities you can enjoy once you’re exploring the Abyss too. There’s a pagan altar where you can trade food and ore for renown points, which themselves can be exchanged for weapons too. There’s also a Mysterious Teacher and an Astrologist, who will let you find out how much the characters have grown with the protagonist and can boost support levels in exchange for renown points.
There’s also a host of new screenshots from the expansion, which you can check out below. The expansion pass costs $24.99 / £22.99 from the eShop. Those who’ve already bought it will have access to the Cindered Shadows via a free update.
