What Happens When Your Premium Pokémon Home Plan Expires?

This article was originally written for TheNintendoVillage.com, a website I founded and ran from 2018 to 2021.

Pokémon HOME shadow dropped yesterday, giving Pokéfans a way to store all of their Pokémon, as well as move certain monsters from other games into Pokémon Sword and Shield. The service offers too plans, a free one and a paid premium plan, with the latter allowing you to store up to 6000 Pokémon, as opposed to the free version’s 30.

But what happens when your subscription runs out and you decide not to renew? Well, unlike it’s predecessor Pokémon BANK, HOME doesn’t delete all those Pokémon after a certain amount of time. Instead, you’re only able to access the first 30 Pokémon you deposited. Here’s the blurb from the website:

“If you deposit 31 or more Pokémon in Pokémon HOME while you have the Premium Plan, and your plan then changes to the no-cost Basic Plan, you will not be able to view or withdraw any Pokémon beyond the 30th Pokémon you deposited.

By re-enrolling in the Premium Plan, you'll be able to view all the information about the additional Pokémon as well as move them out of Pokémon HOME.”

So there you go. If you forget to renew or you’re looking to cut costs for a few months, you don’t need to worry about your lovingly curated Pokédex disappearing into the ether. That’s always nice.

Have you signed up for the Premium plan? Tell us what you think about it down in the comments!
