Platinum Launch New Teaser Site

This article was originally written for TheNintendoVillage.com, a website I founded and ran from 2018 to 2021.

Update: With the announcement of the Wonderful 101 kickstarter, the Platinum site has now been updated to show four different projects, with Wonderful 101 taking the first slot.

Will we see some more Bayonetta 3 news shortly? We’ll have to keep an eye out, though Platinum’s President and CEO Kenichi Sato did say recently that the company had ‘several big announcements’ planned for early this year. It would appear ‘several’ means four in this instance, with Wonderful 101 being the first.

Original Story: We may be patiently awaiting the release of Bayonetta 3, but Platinum are now teasing something centered around the letter 4.

The new subdomain of Platinum’s official site simply shows the number, occasionally pixellated or distorted intermittently spinning around. What exactly that means is anyone’s guess at this point.

There have been numerous rumours doing the rounds of a Wonderful 101 port, including a new Kickstarter seemingly under the Platinum Games name. That was found by GameXplain, who also claim to have sources confirming the existence of the port.

This comes on the back of a tweet from the company, showing the director of Wonderful 101 Hideki Kamiya, sitting at his desk with the screen mysteriously reading 1:01 on the 1 October, or 101. Now either that’s a subtle hint or Mr Kamiya really needs to update his date and time.

Whether the new website has anything to do specifically with the number 4, or whether it’s counting down the days until we get an official announcement remains to be seen.

Regardless, are you interested in a Wonderful 101 port on Switch? Let us know down in the comments.
