The Outer Worlds Finally Has A Switch Release Date

It’s been a long, hard road for the Switch version of The Outer Worlds. First off, it missed the synchronised release date across Xbox, PS4 and PC, and then it’s original March date was scuppered by the coronavirus outbreak.

Happily, it now has a new launch date in place of 5 June. Fingers crossed no other world-ending catastrophes occur between now and then that result in it being delayed further.

According to the press release from the game’s publisher Obsidian, the physical version of the game will launch on a cartridge, but a 6GB day one patch will be required for a few extra bits and pieces:

“The retail version The Outer Worlds comes on a physical cartridge, and it will be accompanied by a day one patch that could be up to 6 GB. This patch will optimize gameplay, provide additional hi-res textures, and include other fixes to provide the employees of Halcyon with the best gameplay experience. Please ensure you have planned accordingly and have available space necessary for the patch.”

The game will retail at $59.99 / £49.99. Let us know if you’re picking this one up!
