Ty The Tasmanian Tiger 5 Could Happen

The first Ty the Tasmanian Tiger game recently saw it’s remastered version arrive on Switch. Krome Studios have indicated they’d be keen to port Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2 and 3 as well, with those games already available in HD on Steam. They would require a little work though, as creator Steve Stamatiadis has told Nintendo Everything that they’re running on a different engine:

“If sales go well, we’d absolutely love to bring the other games to the Switch (and other consoles). … we’re working on the other platforms. Ty 2 and Ty 3 are ready to go, from an art asset perspective. They’re already on Steam. For the porting work, it would be different though because they are on a different engine than Ty 1.”

Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 4 also exists as a 2D side-scroller, arriving on PC in 2015, but if Krome can find the resources to do it, a fifth game would be a return to the classic 3D platformer:

“If we did a Ty 5, we would do it as a 3D platformer. It’s also a resource issue. For that type of game, we’d need a much bigger team size, budget, everything is so much bigger. What we would want to achieve isn’t something that could be done on a shoestring budget. With today’s expectations of what the graphics and everything should look like now, it’s such a much bigger budget. The scale is pretty huge. Back in the day, the core Ty 1 team was around 20-25. We’re about 12 people now.”

The remaster of the first game was a solid entry in Switch’s library, so we definitely wouldn’t say no to seeing another couple of ports make their way over. As for Ty 5, given the minor renaissance the 3D platformer is currently having, we’d absolutely be on board!
